Dirk Dieters lives in Tucson, Arizona where he owns The Fremont Group, a small business management consulting firm. He is married with five children and eight grandchildren. An avid golfer and a fan of Michigan State football and basketball. His 27 years of consulting, law degree, and coaching experience is drawn upon in this, his first mystery/thriller novel following the publication of his management consulting book, “Minding My Own Business.” “The Ring” is the first in his Martin Dougherty series. This has been followed up by "Suspicion," the second in the series. A third book, "Power" is due you by the end of the year.
I started writing because I simply wanted to see if I could do it. When I received some encouragement about the draft I just kept going. Since then I have found that it is just plain fun! My concept for the Martin Dougherty Series is to take a family and have events happen around them. I didn't want another lawyer book or books where the protagonist is anything other than just a normal guy caught up in events. I look for historical and timely events to incorporate. I'm a big fan of CJ Box, Steven White, and other mystery writers and have no doubt incorporated their influence into my books. I found in my first book, "The Ring" I was very plot orientated. The plot was my focus. In the second book, I saw my writing improve with more attention to detail but still very plot conscious. The third book, "Power" was released on January 1st! The characters are becoming the focus of the book. Who knows where the next one will take me!
